CLEA
President of the association,
in charge of Science
Having always sailed with her family, Cléa developed a passion for the sea very early on. Fascinated by this ecosystem, her dream today is to work in marine research in order to contribute to its conservation. For her, the Sea Plastics project is both an extreme proximity to the marine world and a desire to use science to face this great challenge of the 21st century that is plastic pollution.
It was while setting up a waste management system during a sustainable development mission in Nepal that Benjamin became aware of the problem of plastic waste. Up there on the Nepalese highlands, a huge amount of waste rushes into the clear waterways. The seed of plastic pollution awareness was planted. Returning to France, he realizes that the problem is not inherent to developing countries. It is global. Discovering the association SEA Plastics, he saw both the way to reconcile his passion for sailing, this issue and his studies on biosourced and degradable materials.

COSME
Secretary of the association,
in charge of Partnerships
Originally from Vendée, Cosme has been passionate about sailing and the oceans since childhood. Thanks to his expatriate parents, during his childhood he traveled across the continents to finally drop his bags at ESPCI Paris. There, he discovers physics and chemistry, and is already thinking about how to put his skills at the service of the environment. Today, Cosme sets sail with SEA Plastics to combine his passion for the sea and travel with his appetite for research. It is for him an adventure that is both human and scientific, which will be rich in encounters!
Fascinated by the sea from an early age, Elora is a real fish in the water: diving, swimming, synchronized swimming... It is by becoming aware of the importance of protecting ecosystems that she is moving towards a course in the environment and pre-specializes in "natural resource management". Sensitive to the fate of waste, it already follows a “zero waste” life ethic. Today, she dreams of combining her cause and her passion in this adventure that is SEA Plastics.

ERIC
Skipper and owner of the Dune
Sailing since the age of 17, Erick's first boat was an old
wooden rig, ketch of 27 meters which he conveyed from Turku in Finland to the Mediterranean. Erick did his sailor's apprenticeship thanks to Father Michel Jaouen, an emblematic figure of reintegration and the world of the sea. Since then he has owned several classic racing-cruising sailboats with which he has traveled the seas over several thousand miles. . The SEA Plastics 2020 expedition will take place aboard its sailboat, the Dune .
From an early age, Aitor felt a special connection with the sea and this led him to study environmental sciences at the University of Barcelona and later specialize in the marine field through the Master's degree in Oceanography. He will be present on the SEA Plastics sailboat during the 2020 expedition to contribute to research on micro-plastics, the subject of his graduation thesis based on the sampling data collected during the expedition and to help to organize awareness-raising actions during stopovers in Spain.
