But more concretely, what actions are implemented to fight against this devastating phenomenon and preserve marine ecosystems? In order to better understand it, let's sail together and the time of a podcast from the sailboat "Le Dune" with two of the members of the association, Clea Abello and Benjamin Pannetier, students of AgroParisTech in their gap year and passionate about the environment. marine.

The images follow one another, cruel, looping on social networks. Three weeks after the discovery in the Philippines of a dead whale with 40 kilos of plastic in its stomach, a pregnant sperm whale was stranded on April 2 on a beach in Sardinia. Turtles suffocated by bags or with straws in their nostrils… Every day, plastic pollution kills 100,000 marine mammals, which confuse the bags with jellyfish, which they feed on. In the North Pacific, the 7th continent and its 18,000 billion pieces of plastic waste are growing day by day, while nano-plastics insidiously contaminate...

The third edition of the Monaco Ocean Week  brings together until the end of this week, scientists, NGOs and international experts to reflect on the future of the oceans. Many threats weigh on the marine environment : acidification due to climate change, overfishing, loss of marine biodiversity, multiple pollutions… Plastic pollution is particularly worrying. It is also the main subject of this Monaco Ocean Week. Initiatives to solve plastic problems are financially supported by the program “ BeMed ”. “ Sea plastics ” is one of these initiatives “ lauréats BeMed_cc7819035-95cde-6bad”. Three very young researchers are launching an innovative exploration : that of microplastics in the Mediterranean.
